5 storage ideas for the bedroom
Hello!
As we settled into our new home, we tried out different storage ideas so sharing my favourite ones on the blog!
1. Ottoman beds
I really have to thank my friend for telling us about ottoman beds. We are so happy with our IKEA MALM ottoman bed because it has so much storage space! Part of me wishes that we did buy two MALM beds but I wanted a different style in the master bedroom.
I like that the storage space in an ottoman bed is just one undivided space and as it is under the bed, it doesn’t make the room feel smaller.
It uses the space under the mattress so it’s great for putting away spare duvets and seasonal clothes. Maybe I just need more wardrobe space...or to buy fewer clothes!
It’s also really convenient and easy to take things out of storage which I didn’t realise would be so important to us!
I just spotted IKEA has increased the price of the MALM bed to £379! It was £299 when we purchased it in 2021 and at that price I thought it was great value.
2. Cube storage units
We didn’t find a chest of drawers that we liked to fill a space next to our built-in wardrobe in the master bedroom and in the end, we purchased a six cube storage unit from Argos!
This Habitat Squares 6 cube storage unit is a similar one to what we have.
I liked the idea that we could add storage boxes or keep some of the spaces free for ornaments. The Habitat Squares boxes are great too as you can fold them flat when you don’t need them so it’s easy to store.
I was impressed by how much you could store in boxes! I think this would be great in a child’s room as you can easily put all the toys in.
The design is similar to the IKEA KALLAX storage units but we ended up getting the storage unit from Argos as IKEA didn’t have a 6 cube option.
3. Wire storage tables
We wanted a space to easily put cushions and throws so decided on a wire storage basket with a lid.
We bought the MANDALA - gold cage side table from Maisons du Monde and it’s so pretty!
I really like the pattern on the lid.
We were also looking at the KVISTBRO storage table from IKEA too but decided we wanted something gold instead to match the rest of the decor in the room.
4. Robe baskets
Another surprise to me was how useful rope baskets are! It’s great for under console tables or on a bottom shelf. We currently use ours as a plant pot for our artificial bamboo and for storing random small objects.
These are the rope baskets that we have. I was impressed with the price and quality of the George at Asda grey and white rope basket! They also had this lovely lovely cream rope and seagrass storage baskets and it's only £10 for a set of two!
5. Vacuum packed bags
I have been using these for years and they are great for saving space, especially when we’re storing our down duvets and pillows since there’s so much air in them!
I found that these Protect & Store vacuum bags from Argos are great quality and durable.
